4DOF Motion Simulator

This is by far the best racing simulator I’ve seen. Developed in Europe it features dynamic and importantly quiet motion in four degrees of freedom. The price? About €20,000 (US$25,000). To really appreciate how great this simulator is, you need yo check out the video.

Development

The motion platform development took close to two years. Components were used in ways that they weren’t necessarily intended presenting problems that had to be overcome. The big issue was finding a clean and quiet motion solution with load bearing capability. It was neccessary to develop a way to use these electromotors as servo drives, especially at low RPM settings. Finally, a solution was found using intelligent converters and a specially designed control system. The result is an almost silent and very compact platform.
